THE CAPTAIN HAS THE CON... June 25, 2009 was a day of contrasting events, a day of mixed emotions; one leader’s tenure ended, while a new one just began.

Immediate Past President Allan Asi bade farewell to his Clubmen and stepped down as the RCSFDM’s Club President during the Club’s Award’s night and Turn over ceremonies. For the last time, IPP Allan called the meeting to order, amidst the applause of appreciation from his peers. With heartfelt gratitude, he thanked the members and the Club’s partners in service for all the support they have provided him to make his tenure successful. He officially turned over the Club leadership to President Mar Reyes and his Board of Directors, who will now lead our Club in its quest to continuously be of service to others. But as what we all have come to know, the change of headship will hardly be felt, as President Mar has proven time and again that he is cut for the task. We’ll just pick up from where we left off, continuing to make dreams real and being of service above self. This year’s theme is “The future of the Rotary is in our hands” and with President Mar at the helm, that future is just going to be bright.

CIVIC GROUP DONATES 54,000 DOSES OF DEWORMING DRUG TO RCSFDM Barely has President Mar Reyes took over the presidency from PP Allan Asi, the former helped made possible the recent donation of an impressive 54,000 doses of deworming medicines from a group of civic-oriented individuals led by Tabon-tabon, Leyte Mayor Rusty Baldarian.

In a simple turn-over ceremony held last June 26, 2009, President Mar accompanied by PP Arnold Guerrero, PN Ronnie Yap, Sec Bon Tagum, Treasurer John Simon, Dir Renan Briones, Dir TJ Tajonera and Dir Nonoy Desamito, received the medicines from Mayor Baldarian.

PP Arnold Guerrero must be commended for relaying to the Mayor’s civic group (the Wordwide Filipino Alliance) the Club’s interest in helping the group in distributing the said deworming medicines to needy children. Once administered by competent physicians, the medicines will be a wondrous blessing to 54,000 children in the Philippines as it will rid them off of worms and other parasites for a period of six months.
