A STRONG, IMPRESSIVE START FOR THE CLUB

The 1st MSU Mission in Fairview
Congratulations to President Mar Reyes and the Clubmen for the huge success of our second expanded Mobile Surgery Unit, medical, dental, eye screening, and legal Mission at Brgy. Fairview last August 29, 2009!!!

Again, the Mission was able to benefit hundreds of beneficiaries who are residents of two barangays, namely: the host Barangay Greater Fairview and the neighboring Barangay Holy Spirit.

It is notable that the Mission created such a great impact on the residents of a Barangay which is within the confines of our own District 3780. Governor Dulce Coyukiat came to give a short talk and lauded the noble undertaking of the Club and the Barangay led by our clubmate Brgy. Captain Jonel Quebal. She was later given a tour of the Mission grounds and the urban organic farm project of the Barangay. In the course of the tour, the Governor , President Mar, Inner Wheel President Soc Yap, Rn Jonel Quebal and PP Paeng Arcega were able to lant mahogany trees inside the huge Barangay complex.

More than the magnitude of the Mission, however, it seems that the Governor was quite impressed by the huge turnout of the Clubmen in the Mission. Kudos to the Clubmen who came to give valuable support: PP Louie Lopez, PP Butch Javier, PP Sor Mercado, PP Rene Clemente, PP Danny Tuason, PP Paeng Arcega, PP Penny Policarpio, PP Boyet Tabao, PP Louie Pangulayan, PP Allan Asi, VP Rod Banag, Treasurer John Simon, Director Nonoy Desamito, Director Renan Briones, EIC Noel Babaran and so many others whose indulgence I ask if I may have omitted their names here.

We hope that we can give the same support to the Mission which will be held in September at Guiguinto, Bulacan!!!

The 1st Quezon City International Marathon: The RCSFDM Preparations
At last, several Clubmen attended and witnessed the Running Clinic conducted by the Runnex last Sunday, August 30, 2009 inside the UP Diliman campus. Among those who came were President Mar, PP Len Abogado and spouse Nini, PP Rene Clemente with her daughter and friends, Rotarian Benny Fragante and yours truly.

The weather was very inviting and the grounds very lush with greenery at the UP Academic Oval. At that time, a triathlon competition was underway: the UP Law Dean’s Cup Triathlon Competition. Thus, the Academic Oval which was ordered off-limits to vehicles was full of runners, joggers and other fitness buffs.

It is a welcome surprise that Nestle also launched a Wellness Project on that same day! Immediately, we found ourselves signing up for their program and attending a health and wellness seminar. We also got to win some raffle prizes and we all left with big smiles for a sumptuous breakfast buffet at Rals’ UP AyalaLand TechnoHub.

Indeed, our newly-discovered muscles may be creaking and aching a little bit but the realization that we are embarked on a fitness program is truly gratifying and fulfilling!!!
