MALAYA ACHIEVERS ROTARACTORS TO ATTEND 2009 ASIA PACIFIC REGONAL ROTARACT CONFERENCE (APRRC) IN SINGAPORE

.

The first APRRC was held in Hongkong in 2004 as a platform for fellowship and a forum for open and meaningful discussion on common issues facing Rotaractors in this Asia Pacific Region vis-a-vis Rotary’s InterCity meeting equivalent. This inaugural event saw over 700 Rotaractors coming together from all over the region in this meeting of like-minded young adults sharing the common objective of “Fellowship Through Service”.

As part of our continuous support to our younger partners in service, our Club will be sponsoring four Rotaractors from our very own Malaya Achievers in the upcoming Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference (APPRC) 2009 to be held at the Singapore Sports, School in Singapore. This event will serve as a platform for fellowship as well as a venue for an open & meaningful discussion on common issues facing Rotaractors in this Asia Pacific region, similar to the Inter-City meeting of Rotary.

RC SFDM was able to sponsor four (4) delegates for the said event thru the kindness of all the Clubmen. Major sponsors are: President Mar Reyes, Immediate Past President Allan Asi and Past President Louie Lopez sponsored one delegate each and the fourth will be sponsored by the clubmen of RCSFDM.

The Malaya Achievers contingent will be represented by President Buena Marie Dotimas, IPP Ahne Celestino, Vice-President Walter Sabio Daño and International Service Director Orlino Valerio.

This is a chance for our future leaders to take on a more active role in leading their respective clubs to a more meaningful and effective way of service above self, and also gives them a chance to learn more about other cultures and other pressing concerns in the other clubs. They can then share processes and activities that they are doing within their clubs and districts with the other participants. This is very enriching and educational event that our Rotary Club of San Francisco del Monte definitely supports.

PROFILE OF THE DELEGATES

.

MA. ANA FLORDELIZA “Ahne” CELESTINO
Our hard-working RAC SFDM Malaya Achievers IPP Ahne Celestino is still at it! It’s just reassuring to know that her drive to serve and help her countrymen has not been diminished by the arduous Rotary year she has just completed. Though she has just finished her term she still makes it a point to be involved and on top of what is happening to our Malaya Achievers. She acts as a big sister to the other Rotaract members, always willing to lend a helping hand and guide them in setting up events and projects.

She currently serves as a member of the RCSFDM Club Secretariat. Her gentle and caring presence is almost a must have during our Club events and medical missions.

She is currently the acting cashier, as well as an alternate teller at the Real Bank branch in Timog Avenue, another testament to her reliability, trustworthiness and efficiency. She is truly one qualified leader in the district.

.

BUENA MARIE “Buena” DOTIMAS
Our youthful Malaya Achievers President Buena Marie Dotimas is currently a third year B.S. Education student at the Philippine Women’s University, majoring in Psychology. She is a product of our adopted educational institution, the E. Rodriguez Jr. High School, and has been actively involved in Rotary since she was younger by being a member of Interact ever since her high school freshman year.

.

ORLINO “Orli” VALERIO
Our current Assistant District Rotaract Representative has been exposed to the ways of the Rotary early since his own father is a Rotarian. He was inspired by the examples and principles of the Rotary that he ventured early on into the world of service by joining Rotaract. Unfortunately, the first Rotaract Club he joined got dissolved, and it was a major blow to him.

But his resiliency and the strength of his character gave him the prodding to move on and continue being of service. That was when he joined our Malaya Achievers. And ever since, he has proven that if you have the determination and the will to help, nothing can prevent you from doing so.

.

WALTER “Walter” DANO
Walter Sabio Daño is presently studying at the Quezon City Polytechnic University. At his young age, he has demonstrated his passion to be of service above self by being actively involved in all the joint activities of RACSFDM and RCSFDM. As much as possible, he does his best to balance his time between his studies and other activities so that he can participate in our service projects. It is rare that he will let the opportunity to help others pass by without taking action.

- William Lyon Phelps

“This is a youth-oriented society, and the joke is on them because youth is a disease from which we all recover.”
- Anonymous

“When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it had happened or not.”
