Let’s share our Light of Hope and Lead the way

The recent havoc caused by Typhoon Ondoy served as another opportunity for the Clubmen and ladies of RCSFDM and the Inner Wheel Club of SFDM to do what we do best- to be of service above self!

The frantic calls for help and aid immediately set the members into action- gathering, sorting and packing donations relief goods and preparing relief operations missions in several areas. Right after the onslaught of the torrential rains and rampaging floods last Saturday, we received a call for help from residents of Barangay Pamanay near La Mesa dam through Agnes Enguito-Abad of the Asian Institute of Health Care. Club President Mar Reyes and several clubmen (PP Manny Po, PP Arnold Guerrero, PN Ronnie Yap, EIC Noel Babaran and Secretary Bon Tagum) led the relief operations in the said area with the very able and competent help of our partners-in-service, the Inner Wheel Club of SFDM, headed by President Soc Yap, IPP Chit Reyes and PP Armi Guerrero. The immediate action help calm down and reassure the residents that hope is not lost as long as people are willing to help each other.

All through out the rest of the week, donations are still being received as more people want to help in whatever way they can. Yesterday, our Club answered calls for assistance from our fellow Clubman Jonel Quebal. He is currently the Barangay Captain of Barangay Greater Fairview, and he asked for help for the more than 200 families in a depressed residential community in his barangay. President Mar once again steered the Club into action and led the relief operations contingent composed of IWC IPP Chit Reyes, PN Ronnie Yap, Rn Jonel Quebal, EIC Bon Tagum and his wife, Ingrid. With the able support of the local barangay officials, they were able to address some of the basic concerns although we need more help in gathering additional donations for the victims.

We are calling on all Clubmen to actively solicit goods from your friends and relatives who were not affected as much as the rest. The opportunities are endless to be of service. Let’s do our best to help our brothers and sisters find their feet and stand up once again. The future, though temporarily dimmed by this catastrophe, can still become bright, as long as there are people willing to lend their light and lead the way. Let’s share our beacons of hope.
