A STRONG, IMPRESSIVE START FOR THE CLUB
A quick assessment of the activities of the Club last month certainly gives me goose bumps and fierce pride to be a clubman of RCSFDM.
We have done well, no, make that great! Let us pause and consider the following initial successes of the Club, among others:
- Hosted a Governor’s Visit which was graded “excellent”;
- Held an Induction Ceremonies graced by rock-star popular incumbent Senator and Presidentiable Chiz Escudero;
- Executed several sisterhood agreements with various Rotary Clubs from various districts;
- Signed several daughter club agreements with various Rotary Clubs from various districts;
- Recruited ten (10) new Rotarians thereby increasing the club membership by almost 20%;
- Donated and distributed more than 80,000 chewable de-worming tablets to various service partners;
- Tapped topnotch speakers like Cory Quirino and Tirso Antiporda to speak during our recent regular meetings,
- Held an expanded Mobile Surgery Unit medical, surgical, dental, and legal mission held last July 25-26, 2009 in Pozzorubio, Pangasinan which benefitted more than 1,500 beneficiaries; and
- Lead-hosted the first Inter-City Meeting with no less than the sitting Chief Justice Reynato Puno as the Guest of Honor and Speaker and with the active participation of more than 70 clubs in the District.
It is also noteworthy to mention that throughout the above activities, the Clubmen were one in service and fellowship with our President and his officers. It was the work of not just one man but by the RCSFDM Service Team. The Clubmen have ensured their presence in all the activities so far.
The Club has certainly taken not just one step but several steps and leaps in the right direction toward fulfilling the promise and boundless potential of a premiere club like RCSFDM.
The Club’s strong, impressive start this Rotary Year is very significant as the month of August comes along. The momentum will hopefully ensure our continued unified and dynamic action. There are several major District events lined up, such as the DG Dulce Coyukiat Basketball Cup which will be launched on August 8, 2009. All eyes are expected to be trained on our Club as we are the defending basketball champion. We will need the steady court generalship of the PN Mike De Vera (this year’s Athlete of the Year Awardee). On August 25, 2009, another Inter-City Meeting will be held in celebration of the “Linggo ng Wika”. Representative Magtanggol Gunigundo will be the Guest Speaker. Lastly, on August 29, 2009, we will have our second MSU Mission for this Rotary Year in Fairview, thanks to the efforts of our new member, Barangay Captain Jonel Quebal and PP Paeng Arcega, among others.
