SECRETARY'S CORNERBy Secretary Andrei Bon Tagum

BY HIS WOUNDS WE WERE HEALED
BY OUR SERVICE OTHERS WERE RELIEVED

Fellow clubmen, belated Happy Easter to all of you!!!  After that well-earned Holy Week break, we must all have been recharged and re-energized sufficiently enough to be able to take on our remaining challenges for the current Rotary year.

The past Holy Week gave us all the opportunity to look deeper into ourselves and reflect on our significance to society.  I myself has been reminded, upon watching the movie, The Passion of the Christ (directed by Mel Gibson) of the tremendous sacrifice of the Lord.

Truly, the Lord demonstrated that greatest form of love: laying down his life for others so that others may be saved.  While we clubmen are not really expected to lay down our lives for others, by our brand of service we give a part of our life to others.

We have barely three months left before the end of the present Rotary year.  But rest we cannot, as we still have to address the remaining challenges down the road.

Certainly, we have to circle the bandwagons around our Governor-Nominee Penny Policarpio.  Literally, he is being challenged for his post and we are called upon to give him our moral support.

We also need to continue giving our support not only to President Mar and his officers but also to President-Elect John Simon and his set of officers.

Kudos to PE John for being the darling of the GSE Inbound Teams!  He has been such a gracious and friendly host that the Korean GSE Team Leader has pledged to give 2,000 eyeglass frames for distribution to the needy, after learning of such need from PE John.

Let us also continue preparing for the District Awards and Recognition Night in May.  It is barely a few weeks away and such a grand major affair needs all the hands available from the Club.

Finally, let us all be vigilant in ensuring a peaceful, honest and orderly transition of government in the coming National and Local Elections.  We cannot insulate ourselves from this national event as it will determine the quality of our future life and that of the next generations.
