HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

First of all, let me greet each of you a Happy Easter! I hope the long holiday weekend last week brought everyone renewed vigor to continue doing what we can to effect change in our community. But more importantly, I hope we found time to renew our faith and our belief in our Lord Almighty. I hope we also had a chance to reflect and appreciate more the things that we have. Knowing what we have and comparing these with what others lack just makes us want to share more, don’t you agree?

I share President Mar’s enthusiasm with the over all results of the Club activities prior to the Holy Week break! The impact our projects had on our Rotarian visitors was just overwhelming. They saw what our objectives are, and they saw that we need help in achieving our goal. Any project concerning children is worth all the effort we can muster. The plight of the little children at the Marikina Boy’s Town served as a reminder to our visitors that not everything comes easy and not everyone is as blessed as the others. These children deserve to have a shot at a better and normal life, and our Early Childhood Development Center project is just one way to help them achieve that chance. It is a good thing that the Isesaki Rotarians and the GSE members share our vision for these children and had made it clear that they would like to help improve the conditions of these kids and nurture their physical, emotional and mental condition and give them a sense of normalcy. The situation of these children is definitely not beyond help; they just need guidance and love and care to mold them into becoming productive and successful members of the community.

Just three months to go and this Rotary year will be over, but again, there is no letting up! We still have a few more activities lined up, and our commitment and drive to reach out are needed as much as it was from day one. To all of my fellow Clubmen, let us all continue what we have started and continue bringing the Light of Service Above Self and the Gift of Hope to others.
